Consistent with the college's vision, it is to achieve excellence in education and scientific research in the field of microbiology and medical parasitology, to advance the health of the local community.

Mission:

As an extension of the college's mission, it is to work on qualifying medical personnel in the field of microbiology and medical parasitology to meet labor market needs, conduct rigorous scientific research, and contribute to the development of modern methods for diagnosing and detecting microbes and bacteria to assist in the treatment of citizens, residents, and visitors.

Teaching Objectives:

1. Regarding College of Medicine students: The department teaches the courses of Medical Microbiology and Immunology and Medical Parasitology to second-year students, and also teaches both courses within 9 third-year courses, namely: the Musculoskeletal System, the Immune System and Blood Diseases, the Cardiovascular System, the Respiratory System, the Urinary System, the Digestive System, the Nervous System and Special Senses, the Reproductive System, and the Endocrine System. Both courses are also taught to fourth-year students in the Laboratory Medicine course.

2. Regarding College of Nursing students: The department teaches Medical Microbiology and Parasitology to second-year nursing students. Upon completion of the academic program, nursing students will have achieved:

• Knowledge of medically significant bacteria.
• Understanding of how to request medical sample collection for analysis .
• Acquisition of the ability to analyze and discuss laboratory results and link them to various stages of disease.
• Knowledge of how to perform bacterial cultures and study the effect of antibiotics on them.
• Knowledge of methods of diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of various bacterial diseases as well as immune diseases.
• Understanding of basic information about the human immune system and how it functions in resisting diseases and infections, as well as diseases resulting from dysfunction of this system or organ.

• Knowledge of medically significant microbes and bacteria such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites that cause significant diseases in the human body, and knowledge of modes of infection transmission and prevention methods .

•  Understanding of various sterilization methods, which are critically important for sterilizing medical instruments used by physicians .

• Understanding of basic information about the human immune system.

The department conducts research in medical microbiology, immunology, and various parasitology fields that serve the environment.
